The So Cal Music Live Acoustic Competition is a contest to determine the best live acoustic performers in the Southern California area. It is comprised of four categories – Best Female, Best Male, Best Band and Fan Favorite. All types of music are allowed, as long as they can be performed acoustically.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The Competition works through a series of showcases which will be held at locations in Orange, Los Angeles and San Bernardino Counties. Other locations may be added, depending on the demand. Each performer will be judged independently on a scale of 1 to 10 in the following areas: Overall Musicianship; Originality; Song Variety; Stage Presence/Energy; Group Chemistry (if band); Audience Interaction; and Crowd Response.
The five performers receiving the highest scores will become the nominees in their respective categories, and will compete in the Finals to be held on March 24, 2007 at the Gypsy Den in Santa Ana. In addition, each nominee will be invited to the Awards Show, where he, she or they will perform two songs prior to the announcement of the winners. Plans are also in the works for a short tour of several venues for the winning three artists.
The showcases for Orange County will be held at the Gypsy Den, located at 125 Broadway (Artists Village) in Santa Ana. The dates for the OC showcases are as follows: October 24, November 14 & 28, December 12 & 19, 2006; January 9 & 23, February 13 & 27 and March 13 and 20, 2007.
The showcases for Los Angeles County will be held at the Derby, located at 4500 Los Feliz Boulevard, Hollywood on November 8 and December 13, 2006, January 17 and February 21, 2007; and at Borders Books & Music in Glendale (100 So. Brand Boulevard) on January 13, 2007.
The showcase for San Bernardino and Riverside Counties will be held at Borders Books & Music in Rancho Cucamonga (12370 So. Mainstreet) on February 10, 2007.

Simply send me your name, address, telephone number and email address, plus a check in the amount of $25, made payable to “So.Cal. Music Live,” along with your choice of showcase location and date.
